West Asia &
the D-word
How the unraveling of the Petro-Dollar system, regime changes, and a shifting world order are rewriting the rules of global power.
There is a saying that goes: There are decades when nothing happens and then comes a time when decades happen in a day. The attack on Iran that we are witnessing now is not abrupt; agendas were in place and so were preparations. But the common man being too caught up with surviving economic cycles and everyday life was not ready to dwell with this 'unexpected' event as it is human nature to believe 'all is well' till it is not.
In less than two days, this war has expanded to the entire West Asia region prompting a worldwide panic. While people morn or celebrate as per their political views, one thing is clear: the American deep state is at its core. This geo-political shift that happened in just a span of few weeks has been at the planning stage since years. A war against radical Islamist where US-Israel are co-conspirators.
The Deep State Playbook
Looking at the history on how the now exiled Shah of Iran was overthrown through the Islamic Revolution in 1979 replaced with the then supreme leader Ruhollah Khomeini with support of the deep state and CIA for a regime change to accommodate vested American interests and control on oil, thereby destabilising the region to maintain power of the reserve currency- US Dollar. But with change in time and interest due to losing control over Iran, America is power hungry once again and the logic is simple; in the wild west, the rule of jungle is power of the fist; as the cub reaches adulthood its strength tends to overpower that of aging lion and that is when the lion gets hungry to prey on the cub.
"The lion is none other than Petro-Dollar. The reserve currency of the world is now threatened by the multi-polar world.
But let us not misunderstand this analogy to the lion being the US; in this day and age this lion is none other than Petro-Dollar. The reserve currency of the world is now threatened by the multi-polar world. This multi-polar world has a growing influence on political diplomacy and economic benefits tied to growth for all nations which is now the driving force behind de-dollarisation.
What is the Petro-Dollar?
A system where oil is priced and traded globally in US dollars, making the dollar the world's reserve currency and the foundation of American economic dominance since the 1970s.
The concept of Petro-Dollar is a system where oil is priced and traded globally in US dollar and hence was a driving force behind the meteoric rise of US domination and power in the 1970s. But the Ukraine war resulted in Russian reserves being frozen, which spiralled consequences of relying on one single reserve currency. With the growing concerns over US hegemony and western mediocrity, came the emergence of BRICS nations moving away from USD with bilateral trades, rise of digital payment systems. China's economic power & BRICS setting alternatives has threatened this system to the core and hence, the power USA has globally. This accelerated the pace of de-dollarization which now is a major concern for America with rising debts and economic pressure of US treasuries being dumped and not able to refinance the sovereign debt, no matter what Trumps says about the interest rates, reality is if Fed cuts the rate who will be willing to invest in debt of a falling currency. That is where the military might come in picture, show of force to keep buying time for the inevitable.
BRICS Expansion
Bilateral trade agreements bypassing USD, creating alternative payment corridors.
Digital Payment Rise
Central bank digital currencies and fintech disrupting traditional dollar-based settlements.
US Debt Crisis
Rising sovereign debt, treasury dumping, and inability to refinance at sustainable rates.
Military Projection
Show of force to buy time for a currency system under existential threat.
The other dimension to look here is how all this will impact Indian markets and the economy. While we witnessed a temporary euphoria in the market with Nifty skyrocketing after the much awaited US-India trade deal announcement followed by the American Supreme court declaring Trump's tariffs as 'Illegal', all this was definitely the final nail in the coffin for the American Dollar.
Impact on India
In order to counter this de-dollarisation, USA had a plan; eradicating the previously built radical elements in West Asia as they no longer serve the purpose they were created for; controlling the region through the power of dollar. Dollar was the force controlling ammunitions across these radical elements for the purpose of destabilizing different zones and gaining geographical control over those regions. With the history of 200 years of anchoring, dollar now had to be rebuilt in order to regain control over the lost access over those regions. And this was through overnight toppling of regimes and placing relevant pawn governments which could take over and engineer a new gain dominance over those countries or regions and obviously timed impact on global markets and commodities.
Post-9/11 invasion, regime toppled, 20-year occupation.
WMD pretext, Saddam removed, oil-rich nation destabilized.
Civil war, proxy conflicts, territorial fragmentation.
Economic sanctions, failed coup attempts, oil control bid.
Current conflict — assassination of Khamenei, interim leadership installed.
This has been witnessed with all the countries, USA has gone in an overnight war with: Afghanistan, Iraq. Syria, Venezuela and now Iran. The chain of events if accessed in the right order will always take us to the point when everything was set in motion. The ongoing war with Iran and the assassination of its supreme leader Khamenei was the perfect example of how regime change needed to be done as per the American way. Following his death, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has been named interim Supreme Leader as part of a temporary leadership council until a permanent successor is chosen. All this has been a clear pattern of what is always said; with America, war means business.
"With America, war means business.
Next decade, till 2035 will a decade to remember for generations to come as it will result in a New World order.
The next decade will reshape the global order. From de-dollarisation to new alliances, the world as we know it is being rewritten.
